It’s essential to have a Uruguayan cell phone number¹ to receive governmental updates and notifications from local entities.² Hiring a service contract will be necessary to receive monthly bills which are a prerequisite to prove your address in Uruguay in order to access banking and other highly scrutinized services.
All of the following services are included*:
- Interpreting and scheduling assistance with local offices.
- Most suitable service provider assessment
- Free SIM card
- Free call and message numbers setup
- Digital bill via email setup
- Purchase of local cellphone
¹You’ll only receive communications from local entities through your foreign phone number while you’re not a regular customer, client or attendee. Said entities will expect you to have a local number after you relocate in Uruguay and will only give you calls and messages to that number.
²Carrasco International Airport offers free prepaid ANTEL SIM cards at their reception desk.³ Your phone must be previously unlocked in order to operate with a foreign service provider.
³You can hire a service plan for your prepaid SIM card without changing numbers.
Cost: Chosen relocation/residency package price (60% up-front and 40% once your permanent resident ID card is issued) or hourly 50 USD / 2000 UYU rate.⁴
