
You can apply for a Digital Nomad Permit valid for up to 180 days and renewable once for the same time period.¹ ² It has even less requirement than a provisional ID card and you can upgrade it to either temporary or permanent residency if you decide to extend your stay in Uruguay.

- Police Clearance Certificate + Apostille from birth country and from those where you lived for over 180 days during the 5 year period preceding your arrival to Uruguay (for second provisional ID card).
- Vaccination history (for second provisional ID card).

- Obtaining the required Uruguayan documents:
- Uruguayan Vaccination Certificate.
- Uruguayan Translation for passport.

- Uruguayan Marriage Certificate (for residency application).
- Submission of documents and information updates before the ID office.
- Interpreting and scheduling assistance with local offices.
- Free bus pass.
- Procurement of Uruguayan translator and notary documents.
¹The ID office (National Civilian Identification Agency or DNIC by its acronym in Spanish) works separately from Immigration, which doesn´t issue IDs.
²You will still require a Uruguayan visa if your nationality doesn´t have visa-free access to Uruguay.
