
Relocating (importation and exportation alike) your pet is dependent on the Department of Agriculture of Uruguay and your country’s (and state and/or province when applicable) and your chosen airline (the same requirements apply regardless of your pet’s point of entry).
Make sure to contact your veterinarian to update your pet’s required medications and to obtain their International Veterinarian Certificate.

All the following services are included*:
- Advice on required foreign documents (importation into Uruguay).
- International Veterinarian Certificate showing the following:
- Medical check (less than 10 days old) indicating good health, updated medical treatment and clearance to travel to Uruguay.
- Deworming and external parasite treatment (medicines and date of application) (less than 15 days old).
- Antirabies vaccine (over 21 days old).
- Hydatid cyst treatment containing Praziquantel (only required for dogs) (between 72 hours and 30 days old).
- Clinical check clearing your dog from Leishmaniosis (only applicable in countries where the disease is active).
- Microchip (only required for dogs).
- Interpreting and scheduling assistance with local offices.¹ ² ³
- Obtaining the required Uruguayan documents (exportation out of Uruguay)
- International Veterinarian Certificate + Photocopy (including Uruguayan tax sticker and compliance with the destination country’s requirements).
- Proof of permit payment (666 UYU) to the Uruguayan Department of Agriculture’s BROU (Bank of the Republic) bank account.
- Microchip (required for dogs and cats alike).
¹Relocation of non-traditional pets (other than dogs and cats) must receive a permit from the Uruguayan Department of Agriculture before arriving (dsacomercio@mgap.gub.uy).
²The Department of Agriculture must be sent all of the required documents 48 hours in advance via their designated email (aeropuertoic@mgap.gub.uy).
³An appointment with the Department of Agriculture must be scheduled to issue an exportation permit via telephone (+598) 2915-1856 or (+598) 2916-3798 (in Montevideo) or in person (in the countryside).
